I'm trying to create a creature but I have no coding experience. I decided Fred was the best option for me but every time I create a creature and a brain and save them something goes wrong. Fred won't read the file correctly (it says "not right n") so I can't edit anything I have saved. I'm saving them as .gen files and they open in Framsticks just fine. Any help would be appreciated.

So the problem only concerns neurons? Any neuron causes trouble or just some types of them?
Fred is quite old... but it is all open source, so maybe some good soul experienced in Java will have a look at the sources and be able to fix it.
You can also try the new creature editor. It does not yet provide a graphical support for editing neural networks, but you may find it useful anyway! Edit creatures right in your web browser:
